Wants and warrants came back with a no bail warrant out of San Diego County for violation of probation – dangerous drugs. Police made contact with two men and a woman. One man, Christopher Gregory Reiman, 21, no fixed address, refused an officer’s request to identify himself ‘numerous times” offering only what police termed as, “…evasive answers.” He was eventually taken into custody for illegal lodging, being drunk in public and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer. Capistrano Beach | Felony Warrant Arrest 9:44 a.m. LBPD detectives arrested Carrie Jo Smith, 44 of Tennessee, on a no bail Alabama warrant for fraud. Police said an informant directed them to her location. The warrant was verified and the arrest followed. Wednesday, December 4 Third Avenue & Wildwood | Warrant Arrest 4:38 p.m. Robert Mario Federiconi, 58, Escondido, was arrested during a traffic stop for a Harbor Court traffic warrant with $15,000 bail. Broadway | 300 Block | Resisting 9:49 a.m. An officer attempted to make contact with a man who had thrown an alcohol bottle after he realized the officer had seen him. The suspect repeatedly refused the officer’s order that he stop but he continued to walk away. A second officer was able to cut him off and Gordon Weider, 66, no fixed address, stopped when he was told a taser would be used if he didn’t. He was arrested for resisting/obstructing/delaying an officer and littering.

She had received a call from someone who wanted to sell her phone back to her. An officer returned the call and explained the consequences of ransoming the phone. A group of Ramonans plan to participate in Faith and Family Night when the San Diego Padres play the Miami Marlins in Petco Park on Saturday, May 10 — and they invite others to join them. Proceeds from Ramona’s participation will benefit the Ramona Pregnancy Center and Ramona AWANA, a group for ages 3 through 12th grade that meets weekly during the school year to have fun in a Christian ministry environment.

Fewer claims net insurance refund for water district
A check for $239,791 was presented to the Ramona Municipal Water District by representatives of the Association of California Water Agencies Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA/JPIA) as a refund on the district’s insurance premium. “This is our biggest one,” Melody McDonald, ACWA/JPIA executive committee member, said of the amount on April 8. “It’s a pleasure when you invest in your staff.”

Court to decide if father stands trial for son’s death
A preliminary hearing is scheduled today for the biological father of a Ramona boy who suffered serious brain injuries as an infant and died as a blind and bedridden 6-year-old. Today’s hearing will determine whether Billy Joe Springfield should stand trial for murder in the death of Samuel Dahlke. The child died at his adoptive family’s home in Ramona in November 2011.

.... Palomar Mountain State Park Ranger Jessica Murany was named the 2013 Hill Award recipient for her efforts to keep Palomar open when it was scheduled for closure. Repairman suspected of home burglaries arrested in Ramona
The sheriff’s department is investigating a North County repairman who was arrested in Ramona, suspected of burglarizing homes during jobs, and is asking anyone who hired him and may have been victimized to contact law enforcement. Carlos Barajas, 31, of RB Remodeling, was taken into custody in Ramona on April 9 on suspicion of check fraud and burglary charges, according to reports.

Thieves steal Episcopal church safe, money, communion silver, sacred wines, more in daylight burgla
Suspects broke into St. Mary’s In-the-Valley episcopal church Monday afternoon, April 14, stealing a metal safe with currency, all the silver for communion and other items, said church authorities. “They knew what they were doing. It was fast,” said the Rev. Gwynn Freund. According to the sheriff’s Ramona station, two suspects were caught on video surveillance.

CHP reports fatality in accident near Julian
Friday, April 11, 4:15 p.m.—California Highway Patrol is reporting a fatality in an accident involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on state Route 79 at KQ Ranch Road near Julian. The southbound lanes of Route 79 are open with one-way traffic control, CHP says on its website.

Sailor killed in motorcycle accident
Update, April 15—A motorcycle accident in Julian, just before 3 p.m. April 11, claimed the life of a 29-year-old active duty sailor who resided in Ramona, according to the medical examiner’s office. The Navy has identified him as Petty Officer Third Class Trevor C. Ducusin. He was based aboard the USS Higgins in San Diego, said a Navy spokesperson. The sailor was driving a motorcycle northbound on state Route 79, north of KQ Ranch Road and, while maneuvering into a right-hand curve, his bike entered the southbound lanes and he collided head-on with an SUV,

Car strikes ambulance at Sixth and Main Friday afternoon
A 37-year-old female passenger was transported to Palomar Medical Center with facial injuries after the vehicle she was in struck a private ambulance at Sixth and Main streets about 2:45 this afternoon, said authorities. California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Kattke said the silver Suzuki ZX4 was northbound on Sixth Street and the driver thought it was clear to cross Main Street when it broadsided a private ambulance. The front of the car sustained major damage. Four people were in the Suzuki — the female driver from Warner Springs, and two females and one male, all who are special needs from Ramona, said Kattke.
