James L. “Jack” Edwards
WALLS — The funeral service for James L. “Jack” Edwards, 80, retired Captain of the Memphis Fire Department, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Forest Hill South Funeral Home. He was also a retired DeSoto County Fire Inspector and member of The Church at Lake Forest. He leaves his wife Evelyn and his little dog Honda; two sons, Steve (Tammy) and Bill (Cynthia); three grandchildren, April (Louie) Edwards, Zach (Stacie) Edwards, and Kyle ((Nancy) Edwards; a great-grandson, Blake; and one little girl, Lacie Ann, on the way; several nieces and nephews. He was their Uncle Jack who taught them to ski, swim, and some of them to ride motorcycles.  He was a Mason and Shriner. He was always doing fund-raisers for them. The family requests that any memorials be sent to The Church at Lake Forest, 7180 West Goodman Road, Walls, MS. 38680, Shreveport Hospital For Children, 3100 Samford Avenue, Shreveport, LA. 71103, or Retired Firefighters Association, 6640 Lake Forest Drice, Walls, MS. 38680.

Elizabeth Jessiman
SOUTHAVEN — The funeral service for Elizabeth Jessiman, 91, retired geriatric nursing assistant, will be at 10 a.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven with graveside services at 12:30 p.m. at Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford, Tenn. Jessiman was born March 18, 1922 in Deming, N.M. to the late Andrew Alexander and Maydie Crigger Waggener and died Jan. 29. She was a member of Goodman Oaks Church of Christ in Southaven. She leaves one son, Franklin Flenk of Horn Lake; one daughter, Mary Helen Overton of Southaven; four grandchildren, Andrew Overton, Libbie Overton, Lisa Dettor, Tracy Klenk; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Dettor and Charlie Dettor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Jessiman; one brother, Bill Waggener. The family requests that memorials be made to The Magnolia Messenger.

Kenneth Wesley Turner
SOUTHAVEN — The funeral service for Kenneth Wesley Turner, 67, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Turner died Jan. 24 after a long illness. He was Baptist and was affiliated with First Baptist Church in Horn Lake. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing guitar and singing. He served as assistant manager for Pic Pac Food stores in Memphis; he was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He returned to Memphis where he worked for Nat Bruing Food Group for the next 20 years. He and his family moved to Mississippi in 1974 where he worked in real estate. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Shirley Turner of Southaven; two children, Greg Turner (Elizabeth) and Felicia Maclin (Chris); three sisters, Kathryn Cox (Harvey), Brenda Morris (Cecil) and Lana Edwards; two brothers, Dennis Turner (Suzanne) and Steve Turner; and two grandchildren, who referred to him as "Poppy," Alex Turner and Tatum Maclin. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to First Baptist Church, 3505 W. Goodman Rd., Horn Lake, MS 38637.

Billie Joe “B.J.” Stone
SOUTHAVEN — The funeral service for Billie Joe “B.J.” Stone, 65, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Twin Oaks Funeral Home with visitation starting at noon. Stone was born Nov. 25, 1948 in Water Valley and died Jan. 26 at his home. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was an Army veteran serving with the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War. He leaves four sons, Jeremy Stone, Billie Stone, William Burke, John Skenandore; one daughter, Ashley Skenandore; mother, Myrtle Stone; three brothers, Jim Stone, Alan Stone, Horace Glenn Stone; three sisters, Ruby Jane Belew, Judy Nell Phillips, Patricia Ann Goodman; five grandchildren, Brandon, Shelby, Eli, Mattie and Beth; one great-grandchild, Brayden. He was preceded in death by one son, Jojo Stone; father, Doris Stone; one brother, J.D. Stone. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
