Q: Armed robbery this past weekend? Dona Ana county NM
by CSco
A:You can put a lot of information together if you use crime mapping all over this site in many of its city pages. Then, the local papers, police press releases, arrest logs or inmate lists by each department. The mapping search is a good place to start since you don’t need much information, just view the map.

Q: Is there an online free criminal records search?
by Jenny
A:That depends on many factors. Some can and others can not. The area in which you are looking into plays a big part. Some websites will offer a free open public search but with others you will need to not only pay fees but go through a process. Sometimes it just takes work. One example of a free criminal search is by looking up inmates on all levels, city/county/state/federal. But that does not nearly do the job. Booking lists are only of recent arrests and not of convicted offenders. That's why many pay for a company to do the search, it takes time and a lot of looking around. You have to take in consideration of not only what the law allows, but what would violate privacy protections also. In addition, there are fees related to recording and maintaining then providing the record. These cost are the staffing, warehousing and equipment expenses and have to be paid by the department's budget or the requestor. When there's a very high demand, it can be feasible for the department to go online.
