Westchester Man Charged With Violating Order of Protection
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the arrest of a Westchester County man who violated an order of protection. On April 14, 2014 at 6:49 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Brian Aisenstat stopped a speeding motorist on Sprout Brook Road in the Town of Philipstown. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Victor J. Tonndorf, 64, of 34 Doris Lee Road, Cortlandt Manor, New York held a suspended license. The deputy further determined that a passenger in the vehicle held an active temporary order of protection against Mr. Tonndorf. The deputy arrested Mr. Tonndorf and charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree and with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, misdemeanors. The defendant was processed at the PCSD Nelsonville Substation and subsequently arraigned by Town of Putnam Valley Justice Gina Capone on behalf of the Town of Philipstown. The defendant was committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000.00 cash bail or $10,000.00 bond pending a future appearance in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court to answer the charge. If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.

Rochester crack trafficking suspect held in Orleans County Jail
ALBION – A 22-year-old Rochester parolee was being held in the Orleans County Jail following his arrest Monday afternoon in the Wal-Mart store parking lot on Route 31 and the seizure from his vehicle of 6.7 grams of alleged crack cocaine in 23 bags with a total street value of more than $1,500.Laquan J. Simmons of Arborwood Lane, was arrested by the Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force and Orleans County sheriff’s deputies following an investigation that included his alleged sale of crack to undercover agents.Simmons was arraigned before Albion Town Justice Kevin Howard on two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree. Supervising Investigator Joseph F. Sacco said Simmons is on parole for Rochester crimes.

Fallen Niagara Falls police officers are honored Friday
NIAGARA FALLS – The Badge of Honor Association in conjunction with the Niagara Falls Police Department will dedicate six memorial signs in honor of six officers who lost their lives in the line of duty at 10 a.m. Friday at 428 Third Street. The event is open to the public.The Badge of Honor Association is a nonprofit organization of volunteer members of law enforcement from across New York State dedicated to honoring law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Since they were formed in March 2007 they have placed commemorative plaques in Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse where officers made the ultimate sacrifice. Officers from Rochester, Webster and West Webster as well as the New York State Police Troop A and D have been honored.The sign dedication in Niagara Falls is the start of the Badge of Honor Association’s two month long tribute to 75 fallen officers in Western and Central New York.Officers honored in Niagara Falls on Friday include: Patrolman John A. Stenzel, killed by accidental gunfire on Jan. 6, 1941; Patrolman Leon L. Prudent, killed in a fall on Nov. 5, 1929; Detective Sgt. John Downs, killed by gunfire on Aug. 3, 1923; Patrolman John Ratkay, killed by gunfire on Oct. 10, 1917; Patrolman Michael McCormick, killed by gunfire July 23, 1908; and Constable Andrew J. Frank, suspension bridge Village Police Department, killed by gunfire on Sept. 16, 1865.
