Funding will Keep Stream Gauges Operating
Long-term federal funding for nine high-priority stream gauges, including six in the Southern Tier, has been secured: That will stave off their planned closure on October 1st. This, according to the offices of senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and Congressman Richard Hanna. The gauges include one on Owego creek in Owego, and five on the Susquehanna river in Unadilla, Bainbridge, Windsor, Binghamton, and Owego. These devices predict when floodwaters will crest to help plan for evacuations and flood responses.

Motel Search Leads to Three Arrests
Three people are behind bars following the search of a motel in the Town of Dickinson on Sunday. The Broome County Sheriff's Office received a tip that a suspect wanted on felony parole who they had been looking for for several months was staying at a motel on Old Front Street. When the responding officer arrived on the scene he found suspect 25 year old Francis Neller of Vestal along with two other individuals. Neller was arrested without incidents. Tuan Vo of Owego was found to have a warrant out of the Johnson City Court for criminal impersonation--he was also arrested. 21 year old Jasmine Crawford of Endicott was found in possession of 20 grams of the drug MDMA. She was arrested on two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Neller and Crawford are both being held at the Broome County Jail without bail. Vo was turned over to the Johnson City Police Department on their warrant.
