Arrest records and criminal records are not the same. Criminal records are generally post conviction, while arrests alone do not necessarily mean that the case will result in a conviction. Arrest reports are produced by the arresting department/officer. Arrest reports are requested by the arrestee, attorneys involved in the case such as the prosecutor, public defender or a private practice defense attorney. Law enforcement agencies can request arrest reports also, however, they will generally rely on a report that shows a compilation of arrests in the person’s history, commonly called “RAP sheets” (Record of Arrest and Prosecution). Arrest reports are not that different from incident reports. You can go to that department’s website and request reports online.
