Obituary for Billy Boyd
Billy Wayne "Bill" Boyd, 76, died at Hospice of Chattanooga on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Bill worked at Spartan Industries in Dunlap and retired from Norton Industries in Soddy-Daisy and was a Christian by faith. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, JC and Sarah Christian Boyd; parents, Clarence and Neta Elliot Boyd; brother, JC (Alma) Boyd; sister, Avis (Ron) Walker; nephews, John David Boyd and Burnette Sims; and great-niece, Jennifer Sims. Survivors include his brothers, Z.T. "Zach" (Joyce) Boyd and John H. (Wanda) Boyd; sister, Georgia Ruth Sims, all of Dunlap; nephews, Larry (Kendra) Boyd, John Wayne (Vickie) Sims, Eddie (Julie) Walker, Tommy (Carol) Sims, all of Dunlap, Zachary (Lori) Boyd, Crossville, Tenn., Brad (Amy) Boyd, Gainsville, Ga.; nieces, Kathy (Houston) Cunningham, Debbie Boyd, Dunlap, Lahetta (Joe) Abts, Springfield, Ala., Judy (Royce) Tankersley, Jasper, and Peggy Sims, Dunlap; several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. CST Friday, March 21, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Marvin McClendon officiating. Burial will follow in Rankin Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 1-8 p.m. CST Thursday at Ewton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rankin Cemetery, 157 Spur Ridge Rd. Dunlap, TN 37327 or a charity of your choice.

Obituary for Ruby Gauger
Ruby Smith Gauger, 70, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. She attended the Lonewood Baptist Church of Christ. Ruby was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to work in her garden and plant flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thelman D. Gauger; brother, Arnold Smith; and her parents, Rhodes and Elizabeth Smith. Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Betty (Lester) Riggs, Spencer, Tenn., and Stanley (Millie) Fortenberry, Dalton, Ga.; brothers, Donald L. Smith, Roy W. (Carolyn) Smith, Alvie B. Smith, and Douglas E. (Lois) Smith, all of Pikeville, Cecil E. Smith, Crossville, Tenn., Thomas (Mary) Smith, Sparta, TN., and Rex A. Smith, of North Carolina, sisters, Louise (Harold) Swafford, Crossville, Tenn., Katherine (Jeff) Woodburn, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Frances King, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Shane Riggs, Shawn Riggs, Melanie (Chris) Gibson, Tabitha (Ryan) Newton, and Tara Fortenberry; 7 great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, William Nipper of North Carolina. A Celebration of Ruby's Life will be held Friday Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. at the Lonewood Baptist Church of Christ. Services will be officiated by Bro. Cecil Vanwinkle. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and again on Friday, from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Ruby will be laid to rest in the Ben Smith Cemetery in Pikeville. The pallbearers will be Rip Vanwinkle, Benny Evans, Russell Woodard, Randall Blaylock, Perry Simmons, Scott Vanwinkle and Rick Smith. Obituary for Sandra Wilson
Sandra Choate Wilson, of Crossville, Tenn., and formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. She was 66 years old. Sandra was born and raised in Chattanooga. She was a 1965 graduate of Central High School and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence A. and Nannie Choate. Sandra is survived by her husband of 48 years, George &amp;quot;Fred&amp;quot; Wilson; sons and daughters-in-law, Curt and Tonya Wilson and Kent and Dana Wilson; grandchildren, Courtney, Trevor and Addison; and brother, Kinny Choate; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel. Services for Sandra will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Steve Highlander officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East on Shallowford Road. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Sandras name to the Hospice House of Cumberland County, 30 East Adams St., Crossville, TN 38555. Schools seek liquor revenue
The city of Crossville says it has supported the Cumberland County School System, to the tune of $3 million, over the past 14 years. Because of that support, City Manager David Rutherford has asked for "reasonable" proposals on how to settle the issue of $460,000 in liquor-by-the-drink tax revenues owed the school system.
