Obituary for Jerrol Smith
Jerrol Denning Smith, 70, passed away at Life Care of Red Bank on Thursday, April 17, 2014, after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 18, 1943. Jerrol was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Smith and Norma S. Bailey. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty Vest Smith; daughter, Jennifer E. Smith, both of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Kari (Brandon) Rheal, of Whitwell, and Brianna Lewis, of Chattanooga; great-grandson, Gavin Rheal; sister, Vicki (John) Wells, of Jasper; aunt, Joyce B. Thomas, Hermitage, Tenn.; brother-in-law, John Vest, of Old Fort, Tenn.; a special cousin, Monte (Wanda) Barber, of Signal Mtn.; several nieces; one nephew; and many cousins. Jerrol served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War stationed in Thailand. He worked most of his life in road construction through the Operating Engineers Union # 917, his last job being with Stein Construction Co. Jerrol enjoyed contacting his many friends on ham radio many of them being his Army buddies. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. CST today, April 18, 2014. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. CDT Saturday, April 19, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Military Honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard with Rev. Gary Shirley officiating. Wayne C. Graves, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away, Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Bridge @ South Pittsburg. He was a retired employee of TVA, a veteran of the US Army and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Graves was preceded in death by his son, Brent Graves; and parents, Roy and Lena Parker Graves. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Graves; daughter, Robyn Graves; sister, Joyce Wells; and nieces and nephews, Jodie (Tim) Gravitt, Codie (Matt) Blansett, Angie Keefe (Brian) Young and Robert Keefe. John Grady "Johnny" Peardon, died, March 26, 2014, at the age of 86 at his home. He established the Bible Church of God in South Pittsburg, where he was pastor for over 20 years. It stands today as a memorial in his honor, where he is loved by all members and all who knew him. He will never be forgotten. He was also the owner and operator of Marion Glass and served the community for well over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Peardon and Ada Peardon May; daughters, Vickie Peterson and Shirley Pugh; brothers, James, Ernest and Darnell Peardon; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Palmer. He is survived by his wife, Eunice Peardon; son, John Wayne Peardon; daughters, Joyce (Curtis) Williams, Ada (Tommy) Dean, Brenda Gibson, Kay (George) Alder, Pam (John) Ellison, Tammy (Ben) Fuller; two stepsons, John (Sandy) Turner, and Daniel (Linda) Turner; stepbrother, James (Barbara) Sharp; 29 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
