Far West: (This region includes Brewster, Presidio and Jeff Davis counties.) A cold front brought traces of moisture to parts of the area. On May 3, most of the area recorded light freezing conditions. The area is on alert for wildfire due to dry conditions and high winds. This year we will have a one mile walk added to our Kosse 5K, June the 8th is the date of our 5K, at the Kosse City Park. Host families sought for high school exchange students
Educational Merit Foundation, a non-profit, student exchange organization based in Texas is seeking volunteer host families for high school students from France, Norway, Germany, Brazil and China.

The Buffalo Livestock Auction held its weekly livestock auction on Saturday, May 11. Total head sold were 1365 total head last sale was 813. There were 119 sellers and 65 buyers. The sale is held every Saturday.

Groesbeck FFA Students attend American Welding Society in Houston
The following Groesbeck FFA members traveled to Houston to participate in a welding certification: Colton Montgomery, Tyler Rader, Will Winn, Travis Crowson, James Davey, Mason Masters, and Brandon Funderburke. The students had to perform SMAW 1G plate groove Welds. They left having passed the visual test and waited a week on their results to see if they passed the guided Bend test.read more May 16 2013 |

The Pleasant Grove Reunion of 2013 will be held on Saturday, May 18, at Austin’s McCarver Steakhouse on Highway 7 in Kosse. This the same location as last year’s reunion.

Limestone County receives good news in regards to Limestone County Detention Center

Early last week, Limestone County Judge Daniel Burkeen informed the Journal of some good news in regard to the Limestone County Detention Center.
Judge Burkeen along with other county officials received the good news that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) would use the Limestone County Detention Center to house a portion of its prisoners.read more May 16 2013 |

Henson and Harris elected to Groesbeck City Council
Chris Henson, incumbent, and Kim Harris, a former City Council member, were elected to the Groesbeck City Council last Saturday.
Henson led the ticket with 243 votes while Harris received 180 votes. Alta Stone, an incumbent, received 150 votes.

Dianna Kirven gathers a first, second and third place to lead Coolidge

Sophomore Dianna Kirven medaled in each event she qualified for at the UIL state track meet in Austin May 10th and 11th to lead the Coolidge Yellow Jackets in the 1A, Division 2 portion of the meet. She gathered the gold in winning the 200 meter dash in 26.43. She was second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.77.read more May 16 2013 |
