  • Two Mississippi men are behind bars in separate cases on charges of possession of child pornography, announced Attorney General Jim Hood. Michael Joseph Gennaro, Jr., 32, of Saucier, was sentenced Thursday by Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Robert Krebs to 40 years in prison, with six years to serve, 34 years suspended and five years post-release supervision. He must also pay a $1,000 fine to the Mississippi Crime Victim Compensation Fund and an additional $1,000 assessment to the Children’s Trust Fund, and he must register as a sex offender upon his release. Hudson, of Sumrall, turned himself into the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office Monday on two felony counts each of wire fraud and embezzlement as well as one misdemeanor count each of embezzlement and uttering forgery. While working as an insurance agent, Hudson embezzled more than $34,000. He converted customers’ premium payments for his own use and changed the mailing addresses of customers without their permission in order to receive their refund checks, which he also converted for his own use.   • Today, Attorney General Jim Hood announced the arrest of 42-year-old Matoya Hillie Reaves on insurance fraud, wire fraud, and false pretense charges. Reaves, of Lexington, attempted to defraud Liberty Mutual Insurance Company by filing false claims, including fake invoices appearing to be from Ashley Furniture and other businesses, for items she claimed were destroyed in a fire at her home. The indictment states Reaves received unlawful payments in excess of $500. She was arrested Friday by Investigator Anita Ray with the Attorney General’s Office and booked into the Holmes/Humphreys Regional Correctional Facility. Read More

  • Today, Attorney General Jim Hood announced the arrest of 57-year-old Danny Carlisle, who is charged with one count of child exploitation. Carlisle, of Brookhaven, was arrested at his home Thursday by investigators with the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit. Following an investigation of suspicious online activity, investigators executed a search warrant at Carlisle’s home. He was arrested following the search and transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center. If convicted, Carlisle faces up to 40 years in prison. A charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. This case was investigated by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and it will be prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Brandon Ogburn. Read More
