Q: how can I find out if I have a warrant? (Sierra Vista AZ)

Q: I lost misplaced my driver's license and when i went to apply for a duplicate one online, they are telling me that along with the $12.00 fee for the duplicate,i also have to pay an abandoned vehicle fee of $50.00. I have never abandoned a vehicle. I need to find out what vehicle they are referring to.
by Rose
A:If you sold a car to someone and they never registered it in their name, and they abandoned it, the car will show up as abandoned by you. If you completed the sold notice online or at the DMV, (which the law requires you to do), the DMV should be able to look that up and absolve you. (This is true even if you sold it for scrap or parts.) Also be aware you must keep possession of the license plate, destroy it, or turn it into the DMV. The safest thing, to protect both parties, when buying or selling a car is to always do so at the DMV with both parties present to ensure the transfer is done legally, the car is legally owned by the person selling it, and not reported stolen. (Title agencies may also be able to perform these checks.)
