  • I want to order a death certificate online or by mail. What is the process?
There are a few different ways to get a death certificate. You can request them from the state or county vital records. You can also walk into the state's or any of the county's vital records offices, all of which have walk-in public services. When you go to the Georgia Department of Public Health's website, look for the "I Want to Tab," which will take you to a list of their services. You will see a link "Find Birth, Death, Marriage Certificates." To the left, there's a menu with a link, "Ways to Request a Vital Record," that will show you how to make your request. There's a choice of two third-party vendors, the state's services, and a list of county offices.
  • Where are criminal sentences listed?
The Georgia Department of Corrections has a public search of its inmates where the record shows sentence length, release date, and other information about its prisoners.
  • Where can I find access to marriage and divorce records for Paul House?
Vital records (birth, death, marriage, and divorce) can be requested from the Georgia DPH Vital Records section. Generally, there will be fees imposed by whichever service is used. The State Office of Vital Records provides records for the entire state, saving you from having to look from county to county. There are four ways in which you can obtain marriage and divorce records online, by walking in, via mail, or by calling. Other methods, such as looking up court records, maybe better depending on circumstances, but once again, you may have to select a specific county. You may not be able to get a divorce if it happened after 1996 from the same source, but you can see the index of divorce events from 1952 to the present. Marriages have been available from 1952 to the present.
