Burglar Caught On Baby Monitor
HOUSTON- Police in Houston are looking for a burglary suspect who broke into a home. The family had no idea the thief was even inside their home, until a neighbor found something odd. What they found next on their home security footage was even scarier.Surveillance video of a burglar lurking around a baby's bedroom with a flashlight at 5:00 o'clock in the morning. He even shines the light on the little boy who was soundly sleeping in his crib. It's unclear what he's looking for, but these chilling images made the child's parents sick to their stomachs. The scary part is he didn't even know someone had broken into their West Harris County home until the next day.He and his wife were asleep in the master bedroom when the intruder came in through an unlocked front window.Surveillance cameras all over the house show the burglar going from room to room looking for things to steal.Police say he stole a briefcase and a wallet, then went and broke into a house around the block. When the burglar left that house, he left Lee's items behind. When that homeowner woke up the next morning, he found Lee's briefcase and wallet. He called Lee and said check your cameras. And the burglar is bold. Lee says he knew he was being recorded.Lee cares and so do investigators. They're now looking for him. They believe he's just a teenager. The family does have an alarm system, but say in this one particular night, they forgot to set it. Permalink| Comments

Church Prays to Stay Open
CORPUS CHRISTI - It's a small church in a small town, but they do their best to make a difference in a big way.For over a dozen years, the First United Methodist Church in Taft has helped the community. They offer affordable food and clothing for those less fortunate and even have a pre-school program during the week. However, with their current financial struggles, they may have to close their doors for good.'Our church has been operating in the negative every month, by about five thousand dollars, for at least half a dozen years,' said Scarlett Davis, Finance Committee Chair.Tithes and donations have kept them afloat, but that won't happen for much longer.'Those funds will be depleted within two months,' Davis said. And to top it all off, the church was broken into Thursday night. Many doors and locks were damaged, and several valuable items were stolen. But they won't let anything bring them down on this Easter Sunday.'We very much love our little church and we want it to continue and we want it to grow. So, we're committed to making that happen,' said congregant Julie Clark. The church received a very generous donation of $1,000 on Sunday morning, but unfortunately, it still wont' be enough to keep the place running.Congregants say right now is a grieving period for the church, but they still hope for the best.'More than anything I hope that people don't look at this moment, this time, in anger. I hope that people find the positive in everything because there is something good to come of everything,' said Davis. The pastor says they're still praying to keep their doors open. A church-member-meeting will be held Monday night at 7PM to discuss further options. Permalink| Comments

Prices at the Gas Pump on the Rise
CORPUS CHRISTI - People are driving up to more pain at the pump on this Easter weekend.Gas prices are in the middle of their typical spike in the spring, and many drivers say they're having a hard time keeping up.Prices in Corpus Christi are now averaging $3.48 a gallon for regular unleaded, according to's up six cents from last week, and up 20 cents from just a month ago. Joe Mondragon, who lives in Portland, says the prices at the pump usually keep him close to home.Although he is heading out of town for Easter, he says if prices continue to go up, it's an expense that he may not be willing to take on for upcoming holidays and the summer.'It's too much. I mean, for us to be paying that price and we have a lot of oil and gas. It's not right,' Mondragon says.Things are only expected to get more painful at the pump over the next month. Analysts expect a hike of ten cents or so by May.The first time we'll see a noticeable drop in prices, experts say, is in September. They predict the national average will fall below the $3.50 mark at that time. Permalink| Comments
