Massive Hunt County burn visible from Forney, Kaufman County
Quinlan, Texas – A massive controlled agricultural burn in Hunt County on Saturday afternoon, January 25, 2014, was visible to Forney area residents. {loadposition adinsert} The fire was just west of the Quinlan city limits south of Highway 276 and in between County Road 2316 and County Road 2300. The large amounts of smoke produced by the fire attracted many onlookers. According to Quinlan Fire Department Assistant Chief Steve Bowen, the Quinlan Fire Department had units near the burn on standby to assist if needed. Fire breaks and other precautionary measures were in place for the burn. A test burn was also conducted on the property yesterday involving approximately five acres. The burn targeted approximately 100 acres. Wind conditions were also favorable Saturday afternoon for the burn.
